ARGH! Last weekend I wanted to remove the white spacer from my 2002--the pipe had just started to discolor noticeably, especially after a long flat-out run some days previous--but of course I merely stripped the heads on a couple of the screws, even with a properly fitting screw driver in good condition. I tried heating them with a soldering iron but to no avail.
Now I'm stuck with a tinker-proof carburetor unless I grind off the screw heads. How can I extract the remaining screw bodies if I decide to do so? Can I reasonably expect an impact driver to be able to handle the remaining screws without a similar treatment?
